Maximinus II, nephew of Galerius, was one of the last pagan emperors during the transition to Christianity. He ruled the eastern provinces and continued the persecution of Christians until his defeat by Licinius. His coinage reflects traditional Roman iconography, with frequent depictions of Jupiter, Hercules, and imperial titles asserting divine favor.
